Consortium Submit Tote Bid
Consortium Submit Tote Bid - Yahoo! Sport UK
Fri 26 Jan, 7:09 PM
The Racing Consortium has beaten Friday’s deadline and submitted an offer to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to buy the Tote.
The consortium consists of the Racecourse Association acting on behalf of all racecourses, the Racehorse Owners Association and Tote employees. It is also funded by Lloyds TSB.
A statement from the Racing Consortium read: “The Racing Consortium is confident that the offer meets the Government’s manifesto commitments, has been submitted within Government’s timetable and should therefore be well received.
“The Racing Consortium is bound by non-disclosure obligations and will make no comment until further notice.”
The DCMS turned down an initial offer from the consortium, believed to have been in the region of £300million, in October.
Since that offer, Arena Leisure have dropped out of the consortium, with the Tote management board subsequently stepping in.

FALLON’S US LICENCE APPLICATION DENIED
FALLON’S US LICENCE APPLICATION DENIED: Sporting Life
by Keith Hamer, PA Sport
Kieren Fallon has been refused permission to ride in the Arlington Million in Chicago on Saturday, according to reports from America.
The Arlington Park stewards have upheld the Illinois Racing Board’s ruling that suspensions from other jurisdictions be honoured at the state’s tracks, says www.thoroughbredtimes.com.
“Mr Fallon’s presence on the grounds of any facility under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Racing Board calls into question the honesty and integrity of horse racing due to his current indictment in England of conspiracy to defraud,” ruled the stewards.
Fallon is suspended from riding in Britain as he faces trial next year on charges of conspiracy to defraud.

SANDER CAMILLO HACKS UP AT HQ: Sporting Life
SANDER CAMILLO HACKS UP AT HQ: Sporting Life
Sander Camillo looked a class act when destroying a useful field in the Chippenham Lodge Stud Cherry Hinton Stakes.
The Jeremy Noseda-trained filly was cut to 8-1 from 16-1 for the Stan James 1000 Guineas with William Hill after storming home by five lengths from Alzerra.
She broke quickly for Frankie Dettori but he soon allowed Three Decades to do the donkey work.
However, the 11-8 favourite was back in front over two furlongs out and she quickly stamped her authority on the Group Two contest.
Her rivals were made to look flat-footed as she powered to an impressive victory to add to her success in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Gilded, winner of the Queen Mary Stakes at the Royal meeting, was a neck behind Alzerra in third with Hope’n'charity fourth.
Noseda told Channel Four Racing: “She gave me the feeling that she had moved on from Ascot and she is a very professional filly.
